I love Staedtler pens and prefer them to Sharpies...but they are hard to find and I'd only found fine point Staedtlers in the past. These medium point pens are a great find! They have all the great benefits of Staedtler with a nice sized medium point. The main reason I prefer these over Sharpies is that the ink lasts much longer. They don't dry out with age because they can be left with the cap off...which I don't advise...but if you do temporarily misplace the cap your pen will be fine for a few days until you find it. On some of my pens it says you can leave the cap off for 14 days. I have Staedtler pens sprinkled all over our house. Because of the better ink, I've found that a pen that's used only occasionally will last for years versus Sharpies which will dry out, even if it was brand new, after just a year or 2. Staedtler Pens are made in Germany and are refillable too...although it seemed to me that the refills cost as much as new pens did. This order came quickly from France. Excellent seller and speedy delivery.

Really nice pens for those of us that are looking for a xylene smell free marker. This is the 3rd time I've order these type pens from Amazon. 1st in Black was perfect lasted for years, second time all the pens (red) were near dried up so not very usable. The latest ones Staedtler Lumocolor Permanent 314-3 arrived with 1/3 of lids completely off fumbling/rolling in the box. which means those few will be the ones that dry prematurely. Overall Staedtler is a great product but its hit or miss on some of them.

It's really hard to actually find refill tanks to refill them when they run out of ink, so they aren't as refillable as I expected. I like that the barrels are recycled plastic.

I love using these for autographs on baseball cards, magazines and pictures. Bold and reliable color.

I use these pens for marking on hard, non-absorbant surfaces. The fine tip means I can get a lot of information onto a small surface.

Used it to trace patterns on glass in making leaded stained glass panels.

Expecting a dozen pens only got one ! Rip off!!!!!

The tips are a little softer than other markers of the same make and will smudge on certain papers

For years I have been using another famous brand that claim to work on every surface. As I predominantly use markers to draw on canvas I would find that with the other brand of marker I'd have to be careful not to damage the tip or to colour too hard otherwise the pen tip would become unuseable long before the ink ran out. I'm currently working on a 60x60cm canvas with these pens. I'm only on my first one out of the packet but I have managed to add lots of fine detail and I'm yet to even damage the tip - if I was using my previous brand the pen would have either dried out or the tip would be mutilated by now due to the texture of the canvas or I'd be at a point where I'm carefully having to manipulate the tip to get the lines that I need on the canvas. Even if the first pen out of the packet runs out now I would have got a lot more out of it than the previous brand. The best part is that they do a range of sized tips - I got a box of both the fine and medium. Would definitely recommend to other artists and anyone who wants a good durable marker.
