Containing the episodes: Prime Suspect 1 (1991): When DCI Jane Tennison (Mirren) takes over the running of what appears to be an open and shut murder case, her investigations lead her into a male dominated world and the hunt for a serial killer. Prime Suspect 2 (1992): DCI Tennison begins an investigation into the death of a young girl, whose body is found in the back garden of a house in London. Prime Suspect 3 (1993): Chief Inspector Jane Tennison investigates the discovery of a male prostitute's charred body in the burnt-out flat of a transsexual... Prime Suspect 4 - Inner Circles (1995): Detective Superintendent Tennison investigates the mysterious death of a local country club manager and is led to a hidden political scandal... Prime Suspect 4 - Scent Of Darkness (1995) A series of brutal sex murders disturbingly similar to the pattern of Tennison's first major case leads to the awful suggestion that she may have caught the wrong man... Prime Suspect 4 - The Lost Child (1995): Detective Superintendent Jane Tennison's return to London's Southampton Row is complicated by personal upheaval and an investigation into the disappearance of a child... Prime Suspect 5 - Errors Of Judgement (1996): Detective Superintendent Jane Tennison has been transferred to Manchester and finds herself in a world she does not know, surrounded by people she cannot trust, and invloved with a man she cannot have. Her latest case is destined only to make things worse... Prime Suspect 6 - Last Witness (2003): Tennison is back in London, heading a large murder squad dealing with numerous cases. She's facing the prospect of early retirement, and has ambitious underlings snapping at her heels. When the body of a young Bosnian woman is found, with evidence of torture, Tennison takes personal charge of the case. Her investigation leads her to one, possibly two, Serbian war criminals eager to silence the last witness to a massacre a decade before. Prime Suspect 7 (2006): Retirement loom large for Detective Inspector Tennison, but as her exemplary career draws towards its inevitable conclusion, Jane is paying dearly for 35 years of repressed rage and loneliness. When the body of a missing schoolgirl is discovered, the hunt for her killer begins. However, as Jane and her team struggle to track down the brutal child murderer, the world-weary Detective Tennison begins to unravel. Review: Every Episode Of Prime Suspect! Helen Mirren & Cast Are Outstanding! Enormous, Epic, Extraordinary, "Still Got It" Yes She Has! - In November 2016 after 10 years of asking we finally had Sky Q installed! Signed up to the Box Set package. Which is where we rediscovered just how brilliant Prime Suspect is. Annoyingly we had series 1 downloaded on the box months ago, somehow we never got around to watching it. When we finally did, just our luck the series was set for removal the next day! Thank heavens for desertcart, we are now watching at leisure. Helen Mirren is outstanding! There are so many well known actors in this series and the plots are absorbing and hard hitting too. There's a real mix of realism and reminiscences when you watch this. On one hand you are watching a show from the early 1990s onwards and you see the Cars, the fashion, the technology and the way policing was done (even though it is fictitious) it does at times feel like fly on the wall stuff. On the flip side we see drama that is top notch, timeless and still relevant. At times the story is brutal and unflinching. A woman who has her eyes firmly set on breaking the mould. Succeeding in a very male dominated job. Series 1 especially exposes us to blatant sexism. Series 2 blatant racism etc etc. I won't spoil the plot! All this while solving a savage, violent, murder case with all it's perversity, plot twists and dead ends. The DVD differs slightly from how Prime Suspect was originally broadcast. Each series in TV format had 2 episodes, shown over 2 nights. The DVD shows the 2 episodes as a whole single episode clocking in at over 3 hours. The exception is series 4 running across 3 discs. I don't think it says in the description: Disc 1 - Series 1 (2 parts as a whole episode) Disc 2 - Series 2 (2 parts as a whole episode) Disc 3 - Series 3 (2 parts as a whole episode) Disc 4 - Series 4: The Lost Child Disc 5 - Series 4: Inner Circles Disc 6 - Series 4: Scent Of Darkness Disc 7 - Series 5: Errors Of Judgement Disc 8 - Series 6: The Last Witness Disc 9 - Series 7: The Final Act Disc 10 - The Final Act: Behind The Scenes All in, that's just a whisker short of 24 hours solid viewing. A drama that grabs you from the first few minutes and keeps you hooked even if you're being thrown upside down, turned inside out, unceremoniously shoved in a washing machine and stuck on fast spin. It's very addictive. The best episodes are written by the creator Lynda La Plante. I love the fact the DVD production hasn't restored this to Super HHHD. It adds to the atmosphere. Review: Excellent British crime drama. - This is the complete collection of the Prime Suspect TV series starring Helen Mirren. The episodes are not split into parts, meaning that some of the discs are over 3 hours long, however if you need a break just press stop and most DVD players will resume from the last played time. Each episode is a standalone 'who dunnit' and it very realistic as the programme shows the detectives investigating red herrings as well as the real culprit. Helen Mirren is truly terrific throughout as the formidable DCI Jane Tennison. In the early episodes she has to deal with a very male dominated environment and earn respect. Every episode will keep you guessing on the culprit. The only drawbacks in my opinion is that some parts of the programme look dated and smoking and drinking feature quite prominently. However if you want a British crime drama that is well acted and has plenty to keep you guessing then I highly recommend this. Five stars.

"Pre-used" DVDs always come with the risk of malfunction.
This was a "pre-used" DVD so I wasn't too surprised when one of the disks failed after the first section. The other disks are OK. I would have returned this if it was a new item at full price.

Acting at its best. Good story lines.
One of the best things we have watched in a long time. Never saw it first time round. It is a pleasure to watch the actors and actually hear and understand what they are saying. Brilliant acting.

Dated show to be avoided
Very 1990s police show. Men in charge……over the top drinking and smoking. .some very bad language. Mirren is a brilliant actress but the stories were grim by series 4 and never recaptured the earlier promise. Not worth watching.

Loved it
It is easy to see why Helen Murin is so good when you watch her act and even age during the series. I loved every bit of it. Such a good show. Too bad it was such a shour series. Would have loved more.

Prime Drama
Unforgettable, top level detective dramas. Strong scripts, disturbing crimes ; Helen Mirren is at her brilliant, award winning, best, and the supporting casts can't be faulted. One of the finest TV shows to come out of the UK...ever.
