Surasang Organic Gochugaru Korean Sun-Dried Red Pepper Flakes for Kimchi 3LB

Although I heard that these pepper flakes are super good to make spicy foods and that the peppers are incomparable to others. I personally didn’t find them as spicy as I assumed the way others describe but perhaps my spice level is high. I would say they are a rather gentle spice that can be built up the more you eat. I can definitely say the taste is more different than I expected as I was told it can be a little nutty? I have yet to compare them to other brands offering the same stuff. For those wondering where they are grown. My bag said china. For anyone curious, I made garlic chili oil with this batch.

There are no asian grocery stores near me, so I thought I would give this a try. What a pleasant surprise, it made a perfectly delicious Kimchi. Will definitely be ordering this again

These are Korean sun dried red pepper flakes. They have finer texture than regular pepper flakes but not as finer as powder. They are have very good aroma and flavor but not at all spicy. They just have enough heat to give food a good kick but are going to burn your tongue or anything. Beside kimchi, they would go well with pretty much anything you would put pepper flakes on. You don’t really need to use a lot to get good flavor, a little bit goes a long way.

Very good quality and fresh. The powder has a fragrant smell. I made kimchi and it turned out very delicious. Highly recommended.
