Cursive Handwriting Workbook for Kids: Beginning Cursive helps children learn the basics of cursive writing in the most enjoyable and fun way! What makes this amazing workbook different from most other workbooks on beginning cursive, is that it provides โdot to dotโ- illustrated exercises to help children understand how exactly to form each cursive letter and how to connect cursive letters. In part 1 , students learn and practice the cursive alphabet. They have to draw the snailโs trail inside the letter with a marker, following numbered dots, a fun way to learn how exactly to form each letter. Afterward, they practice writing the letter by tracing inside it and copying it multiple times. In part 2 , students learn how to connect lowercase and uppercase cursive letters, and, in part 3 , they practice writing their first words in cursive. An ideal STARTING POINT for BEGINNERS! Easily learn to write the cursive alphabet! Learn how to connect letters and form words! Unique Play & Learn system with โdot-to-dotโ-illustrated exercises! Appropriate for Grades 2-5! Reproducible: Parents and teachers may reproduce worksheets for use at home or in class! Note: This workbook is for beginners (Level 1). It is the first book of our Cursive Handwriting Workbook Series and it is meant to be used in the context of adult-guided lessons. Its purpose is to help children learn the cursive alphabet as well as to understand how to connect cursive letters and form short words in cursive. Upon finishing this workbook, students will be ready to move on to more advanced workbooks that will help them practice writing words (Level 2) and sentences (Level 3) with a goal to build fluency. Recently, I've heard that the schools nearby where we live are no longer teaching cursive. I'm not sure if that's happening elsewhere or just in our area, but I remember being taught cursive at a very young age when I went to school. I found this book and based off the reviews I'd figured to order it. I'm glad I did! A lot of pages to learn how to write cursive, easy step by steps, big open spaces for the kids to write, and the pages are thick. I got this for my three young ones and I'm very sure they will be able to learn it very easily. I plan to buy this author's other cursive writing books for my kids.

Great even for younger kids
I use this workbook while homeschooling my kindergarten son. I love the layout, especially following a path within the guide rather than confusing arrows. The connecting letters section has a lot going on so we usually just do a couple of lines at a time. Even though my son is still learning to read, I find that he gets a huge benefit from the concentration it takes to write the letters. We like to look back through the book to see how much his regular practice has paid off. He loves to draw, and his drawing has gotten much more refined as well. I wish there was a similar book for writing numbers! I know itโs not exactly cursive, but the hollow line guides are such an improvement over arrows. They should be the norm.

Good workbook to use
This is a good workbook to use to learn and practice cursive. One thing to note is that capital Q's are not standard, they're a more modern Q maybe? They look more like a printed Q rather than the one that looks kind of like a 2. So, we still had to show our son the alternative Q since his school uses the other Q.

Love it!
So this is a little embarrassing but I purchased this for my 23 year old daughter. When she was in elementary school, the school decided to stop teaching cursive, aka handwriting! Now as an adult she only prints! She back in school with this book and others I purchased on Amazon to get her going. She is learning! Next will be handwriting for teens to practice writing sentences.

Great for learning the steps in order
My son is nearing the end of 2nd grade, and I am not sure if schools still teach cursive (I have heard a lot don't), but I still want my son to learn it, so since I am currently homeschooling him for awhile, we decided to give this book a try. We've only done a few letters so far, but I love the format. We just made copies from our printer so we could go over different letters again or I can use them with my other kids in the future without having to purchase another book. I love the big letter at the top that gives the order you will trace over each section. For some of the letters where you go over the same part of the letter more than once, knowing the order is so important. It gives a big one with the order of steps at the top, then ones to trace, and then a few lines to try to make them on their own. Nothing too fancy, but I feel like the big letter at the top, and the way that is designed really makes it helpful. We also got the sequel book that connects the letters into words for once he gets more confident in the individual letters.

Excellent resource
This is an excellent resource. I began this with my daughter (home school) in third grade. It makes learning cursive much easier, I think, because of its format. I love the way that the 'points' are laid out numerically for each and every cursive letter, showing each step of how to properly form each letter. My now fourth grader now writes beautifully in cursive and she is SO proud of herself, as am I!

superb teaching tool
I am blessed to be invited to teach cursive writing to my grandson's 3rd grade. This book shows every step in handwriting clearly. After I model the letter on the board, each student traces it in the workbook until they are comfortable with the procedure. Then they practice writing the letter on their own and circle the ones they judge to be the best. It is a format that we all embrace. If someone forms the letter incorrectly, we simply go back to the numbered model in the workbook and repeat tracing it. LOVE THIS BOOK!

Fun and Simple
A very pleasant introduction to cursive for children. Pages are laid out in a spacious and non-overwhelming manner and the size of the writing expected is spot on. Would recommend.

Easy enough for a 5 year old to use alone!
I was looking for something easy to use that I could leave my 5 year old doing independently and gain confidence. This was perfect for that! He must like it because he often does several pages at once.
