Knorr Fix sauerbraten (Sauerbraten) (Pack of 4)

Delicious and easy way to make a quick sauerbraten

This has such a wonderful flavor! I think we’ve tried every brand of sauerbraten, Knorr is the best hands down. This is the first time I’ve ever gotten one with the label entirely in German. None of us can speak German in my house, but, luckily, I’ve made this so many times in the past, I remembered how to do it. My family uses this to make lower priced/lower quality meat to taste fantastic. The most recent time we used it, we used round steak. I’ve used all different kinds of meat. They all turned out fabulous. The longer you simmer the meat, the more tender it becomes. If you do not speak German either, here is what I do: heat up a skillet, add a little cooking oil, brown your meat on all sides. Once your meat is thoroughly browned, take 500 mL which is slightly more than 2 cups of water, mix the packet and the water together before adding it to your skillet. This cuts down on any clumpiness. Bring it to a boil, then cover & let it simmer. When your meat gets to the desired tenderness, it’s done and ready to eat. I’ve simmered on a very low temperature for 30 to 45 minutes, and sometimes I’ve had to go longer. My family actually loves this and looks forward to it. I love the sauerbraten mix by Knorr! It's a rich sauce with a superb flavor that I haven't found in any other sauerbraten mix. I use tender cuts of meat and serve over mashed potatoes. I make it a very unconventional non-German kind of sauerbraten way so I am really not certain if this is actually authentic or not (flavor or consistency wise). I discovered this mix one day at a store and wanted to try it and loved it. Stores no longer sell it locally (USA) so I was so pleased to find it on Amazon. I missed this wonderful mix and the price is pretty reasonable. Try it! **BTW...everything is in German on the packaging. I was able to translate much of it and figured out the rest by memory. Doesn't matter to me, it tastes exactly as it used to be so I'm happy. Just know that there's a language barrier if you don't know German or a similar language.
