The packaging was not good but luckily the product did not appear to be damaged. The part was a direct replacement and the fit was perfect but there are no instructions included so take your time and a few pictures to make sure you connect everything properly. I replaced my original because of a small gas leak, and the actual install is not very time consuming if you have the right tools. The tools I required for this install was a 7/16 wrench, a 3/8 wrench, and a phillips screwdriver, you could use a crescent wrench or a pair of pliers instead of the 3/8 but for my model fireplace the space is tight and it will take longer with the crescent wrench or you run the risk or stripping with the pliers. One last thing I will mention is to bend the pipes/tubes slowly as you feed them thru the opening to be installed, not to make any sharp bends, and make sure the last 2” or so are straight so you minimize the chance of a leak when you make the connection.
