Is this mic rechargeable? Or does it need constant power?

It needs phantom power, there is NO battery option. I’ve used it many times with a zoom H6 and Zoom F8N which are quite portable and supply phantom power.

How far away from the mic will this record quality audio?

how loud is the sound ....? There are several factors that must be considered ... such as ambient sound ... this is a condenser microphone, which means that it will pick up any ambient sound ... the closer you are to the specific sound you want to record, the better. I am not an expert, but of all the microphones that I have this is the best.

Can you use this on a smart phone? Or do you need a special cord?

No, it needs power, so no use for direct connection to a phone.

Can this mounted to a dslr camera (panasonic lumix gh4)?

You will also need to power the mic.
