Fantastic product!
I purchased this after going thru nearly a year of guaranteed irritation by many different over-the-counter feminine washes (I even tried products meant for a baby's diaper area). If I wasn't REAL careful about how I used the product, I would get an immediate burning sensation that would not go away; and 9 times last year it resulted in a bladder infection. So I was pretty desperate when I went on Amazon trying to find a product that I could use without getting that horrible burning irritation, often resulting in infection. I decided to try Very Private, and am so thankful that I did! No more burning, no more irritation! My only complaint is the price; I have no idea why it is so expensive, although you only need a very small amount. But aside from that, I am one very pleased customer, and highly recommend this product!

Caused Severe Dermatitis!
This wash has KNOWN chemicals in it that cause allergic reactions and dermatitis. Wish I would've done more research before trying it! I am still suffering even after I stopped using it 2 days ago. I will NEVER buy anything from this company again. They advertise this product for SENSITIVE skin and it has KNOWN chemicals in it that cause dermatitis! Ridiculous!

Nothing special about this body wash and it's too pricey.
I really wanted to like this product, and I do not mind paying for something that works for me. Compared to a Summer Eve or any other vaginal wash or soap it was another product. For the ladies that have/had special issues and it work for them-- that's great. I always try to pay special attention to my body and reduce odor during workouts (tend to sweat a lot down there) and during my periods. A diy (do it yourself) solution I came up with: any castile soap with peppermint which have a pH around 8 (too high for the vagina) add organic apple cider vinegar to lower the pH around 4.5 - 6. Only a few small drops and no odor or any other problems. Be sure to do a few small drops because of the peppermint, you will notice a tingle. But I feel very fresh and that's what I was looking for when I tried this product. UPDATE MARCH 30, 2014....I was concerned about the pH of the castile soap (appox 8)and I wanted to make sure that I kept my vaginal natural pH in check. So after my trial size of the castile soap, I tried the Summer Eve vaginal wash (already pH balanced) and added my organic apple cider vinegar to the mixture. 3/4 Summer Eve and 1/4 ACV. Works great, no tingle because there's no peppermint, but you can add 2-3 drops if you like. I have tried Summer Eve in the past along with other vaginal soap and there would still be a vaginal odor. Nothing seemed to get rid of the odor and I am a very clean person. Washing my vaginal several times during the day especially during exercise and my periods. So it must be the addition of the ACV, it turned the affordable Summer Eve soap into something that works all-of-the-time-!!! I hope this helps, the castile soap worked great also, but I did not want to be concerned about the pH factor. Thank you.

Great bodywash, it's multi-purpose, too!
I initially purchased it for, well, private use. But I discovered it's also great for face, body, and even (especially) shaving legs up to and including the "bikini" area. Plus, it has a nice, soft scent, though I think it's technically fragrance-free. Anyhow, no irritations or reactions, and pleasant to use. The only reason I didn't give "all stars" is the packaging: it has a round-ish top and the other end is shaped like a toothpaste tube, so it won't stand up in the shower or on the sink. Nice to have only one product to use in the shower, other than shampoo. I almost wonder it it would do that too, but haven't tried (yet). Great stuff!

Don't Buy: Ingredients Known to Cause Irritation
This product left me confused for a little bit. Their big selling point is that is has obgyn .net's seal of approval, but Very Private is actually a sponsor of the website. On top of that, the website itself doesn't look extremely professional and reliable as a medical reference to begin with. There goes that selling point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had a number of problems with the ingredient list (which is only located on the outer product carton): -Sodium hydroxide, AKA lye, is a strong base. Since the vagina is naturally acidic and has the ability to pH balance itself, this may actually disrupt the natural pH balance of the vagina. So while Very Private is a "pH balanced body wash," it makes no claims to make the user pH balanced as I think many assume. -Nonoxynol-9 is commonly used as a spermicide. In this case it is used to break down oil (it is a surfactant). However, from its use as a (rather ineffective) spermicide it has been linked to an increased STD infection rate . While its use as a spermicide isn't entirely relevant, I found it to be relevant simply because this is an intimate body wash to be used around sex organs and may cause the same side effects. -According to Wikipedia, another ingredient, Quaternium-15, "...can cause contact dermatitis, a symptom of an allergic reaction, especially in those with sensitive skin, on an infant's skin, or on sensitive areas such as the genitals." I don't know about you, but I wouldn't put that in an intimate body wash. -Vanillin is artificial vanilla. I can only assume that they put it there for scent, but for a body wash for sensitive skin that's not helpful in the least. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The product claims to be "Dermatologist tested and approved," but has no mention of FDA approval of its claims of "...containing an effective funga-stat and bacteria-stat, actually helps prevent skin and common vaginal irritations." Methylparaben is an anti-fungal agent, but where the "bacteria-stat" comes from, I have no idea. Obviously, there is no well-known antibiotic in this product, as that would require a prescription. After suffering from frequent UTI's and yeast infections, I figured anything would be better than heavily scented body wash. This is probably better, but it's not worth $14.99 by any means. Take a fourth of that and buy some unscented baby wash and call it a day. I suggest you do your own research on the ingredient list and come to the same conclusion I did: this product does little to help prevent vaginal infections, and may even help to cause them.

Awesome product
I had no idea this product would be so effective when I first purchased it in January 2011. The bottle has a rounded top and bottom so it's true that it doesn't stand up in the shower (a minor inconvenience, to my mind) and who knows what it does to my ph... However, the claims that it is gentle and non-irritating certainly are true for me. In addition, it has completely eliminated vaginal odor which I had no matter what product I used (including gynie-recommended products) and no matter how often I washed - sometimes twice a day. Now I need to wash only once with a dime-sized amount of Very Private and I'm good for more than 24 hours - a godsend when I'm traveling overseas, but wonderful when I'm just staying home. Give this product a try - you'll love it!

Product did not work for me
This product did not work for me. I applied it one day and felt a little burning. When I applied it the second day, the whole area became irritated. I threw the product away.

No Real Change
I bought this item because my pH is often off. It didn't bother me, but it cannot change the pH. So, if you are sensitive to soap then purchase this item. If you are hoping to change your pH, this product cannot do that, as I noted no change.
