Nice product
I used the foam blocks to complete a sound deadening of my television cabinet from the room behind it. The first layer of the cabinet walls is butyl followed my a thin layer of PE sound deadener. Both are Noico products. To finish off the inside of the cabinet I wanted some more sound deadening and something to further reduce any reflective sound waves. So I chose 12 x 12 inch acoustic foam panels. The result is very good and I have to turn the television volume way up high to hear anything from the room behind the cabinet. I will add that I had no problems expanding the 12 x 12 inch foam blocks. They arrive compressed of course to make them easier and less expensive to ship. Half of the foam blocks expanded to their full size on their own. The rest I rinsed in water to expand then wrung them out. It is Winter and the air is dry so most of the foam blocks dried quickly. There were a couple of stranglers so I put them in the clothes dryer for a few minutes. To apply the foam blocks I used 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. I only applied it to the foam blocks, not to the surface I was mounting them to. As I said, my results are very satisfactory although I don't know if the foam blocks by themselves would have giving me the performance I was after. I think the butyl layer is quite important. Hope that helps anyone wondering about these.

They do expand and are quite dense
I read several reviews and was almost thrown off by the statements that the acoustic panels did not expand fully. Instead, I opted to get 3 different products to play it safe and ended up liking this one the most... though expansion is something you have to plan for. When you get the product, it is vacuum sealed, so they are flat to start and need time to expand. I opened the package, laid the panels out and let it sit over night. Some looked good, some looked deformed with only parts expanding. As I had time and I really liked the ones that had expanded, I played around with them. Given time, they should all expand, but it's a dense foam and sometimes a little help is needed. For one that just wouldn't budge, I wet down the side that was not expanding and let it sit for a day or so. Popped right out. Bottom line If you have some flexibility, the product was the best at reducing noise of the ones I ordered, the best value, and very easy to work with once they were expanded. That said, if you are in a hurry or don't have the space to lay out the panels so they can expand, you may want to consider other products or buy spare packages.

Good Acoustic Tiles For The Price
Not bad for the price and fast shipping. I have acoustic tiles on my band room walls by Auralex (which are the most expensive and best quality) and tiles by Mybecca which in my opinion are just as good as Auralex but much cheaper. Now I just added these tiles to the same walls and you really can’t tell the difference. I received these compressed like everyone else has mentioned. Upon removing them from the packaging I was slightly concerned whether they would bounce back to original form and mesh in with my current tiles. I used suggestions from a couple different reviews. 1st, I put them out on my deck in the warm sun for about an hour or two at which point they just about regained normal form. 2nd, I put them in my clothes dryer on low heat for 5 mins and they were finally at normal form. I used 3M 77 spray adhesive to stick them to my basement walls as I always have and they stick perfectly!! I don’t see a need to let them sit for 24 hrs or soak them in water and dry them out when all you need to do is warmly heat them for a bit. I recommend these for sound studios or band rooms for the price and ease of installation.

Soak in Tub. Dry in Dryer. Looks Good, Works Well
Some users said these did not expand as expected. This was not my experience. I ran a small bath and fully soaked each panel for about 1 minute. You will feel water rushing into the pores and you will know they are fully expanded when the feel of the water filling the pores stops. Ring out each panel then put in dryer on medium-high heat. Seems to have worked fine. It is IMPORTANT to let these completely dry, which can take a while and I usually either let them sit for a couple days to air out or put into a room with a heater / humidifier to COMPLETELY dry them. They have a new factory smell when you first open the package, but after soaking and drying I did not notice the smell anymore. It isn't a bad smell, but not something you want filling your room. I also bought a set of 1in panels to compare and I think these are much better at absorbing the sound. They seem to work pretty good. Obviously not something that will soundproof a room, but noticeably helps with overall room sound quality.

Update: Best price for entry level sound panels, but check quality once received
UPDATE: As promised here's an update after unpacking over 200 panels. They are still the cheapest 2" panels and may be very worth it in small volumes or if you don't depend on the true measurements of the panels and have time to request replacements. While my first few packs were fine, the additional 16 packs I bought had mixed results. I added photos to show the permanent heat deformation from the manufacturing process that won't go away no matter how many hot baths you soak them in. The foam is already melted to it's final shape as shown. Additionally, the dimensions of the panels range between 11.75" and 12" squared which is also depicted in my photos. The somewhat good news is the deformed panels were only about 10%; however, the smaller 11.75" dimensions were far more common. I have a "sunk cost" dilemma at this point and found a way to make what I have work. I would have asked for replacements, but would have been a shipping/time hassle and I was eager to finish my isolation booth. If others don't have to depend on exact dimensions or have time to push back to ask for replacements, this is still a MUCH cheaper option for 2" panels and the foam quality of the good panels are great. If F.Stop added a disclaimer these are known issues and adds that as part of their return policy, I would happily rate this 4 stars, and if they fixed their QA issues to ensure true 12"x12" and no deformities F.Stop would be 5 stars and the best option for the price on Amazon. ORIGINAL REVIEW:I spent a lot of time looking for these as I need over 200 for an drum set isolation booth, and these are easily the best price for 2" thick panels. I noticed many complained about how malformed the panels were, so I only bought one set to test. As you will see in the pictures, I had no issues whatsoever. The package came with 2 methods to restore the shape, and the second method (see photos) worked in seconds. This is the same solution for many other brands of foam panels like these. I used very hot water, and you can see the comparison photo showing what they looked like before and after being soaked and dried. I also noticed many complaining the panels were not truly 2", but as you can see in my photo these panels definitely are 2". I don't know if F.Stop has changed their product and instructions or if buyers were simply not trying hard enough to restore the shape of the panels, but I have had no issues whatsoever and have purchased the remaining 16 packages I need. I will provide an update once the rest have been received. For now, you cannot go wrong with the price and quality of these entry level panels.

Worth every cent I spent.
Let me start off by saying that these came pretty quick. I got two 12 packs of 2x12x12 panels. As everyone says, they come compressed. So don't be surprised if they're only an inch-ish at first. I will say, they stank. When you first open, they smell chemically and are not a pleasant fragrance. They do air out after a little time, but sadly for me it's November which means Winter in West Michigan. So I couldn't just open the windows. I mean, I didn't buy these to make my house smell nice. But didn't buy them to make it smell like a chemical factory either. No big. Once you get these, take them apart and set them aside for a day. 24 hours. Let them expand naturally. I was impatient and did the whole "soak them in water and then use a hair dryer" idea and I couldn't get them dried out and took me longer to get them dried than letting them go. I bought some double sided 1" square tabs to stick these to pieces of cardboard for mobility. Don't bother. Get some adhesive spray. The mobility is great - using sticky squares sucks. They fall off. Not a fault of the product. --------- DON'T EXPECT SOUND PROOFING People. This is to reduce ambient noise and sound refractions for a cleaner sound. If you want sound proofing, you need to spend a LOT more money. I live in a house by two bars. I have three young kids (boys). I have a cat that demands being let in. The only way to sound proof this room is if I buy loads of thick insulation, rip out walls and re-seal everything. EVERYTHING. BUT, this cuts down a lot of chatter, fan noise from the computer and heater (again, winter in Michigan). It also helps when the kids are in another room just talking. I surround myself with the panels and it creates a pseudo isolation chamber. BUT it's not sound proofed. Don't expect that. --------- Would I buy more? Yeah, I think it was worth the money I spent and would buy more to cover more areas of my home office/studio. I'm not recording high budget albums. I'm doing voice overs and podcasting. But I'd like to have more ambient noise broken up. And for the price ... this is worth every penny.

Dont waste your money - This is not what is advertised, not in size, or quality
I essentially bought several different types/brands of acoustic foam panels because I was worried about different in quality and delivery. I bought 1. "3 of New Level 6 Pack- Acoustic Panels Studio Foam Egg Crate 2" X 12" X 12" 2. "12 Pack Set Acoustic Foam Panels, Studio Wedge Tiles, 2" X 12" X 12" Acoustic Foam Sound Absorption Pyramid Studio Treatment Wall Panels" 3. "12 Pack Set Acoustic Panels, 2" X 12" X 12" Acoustic Foam Panels, Studio Wedge Tiles, Sound Panels wedges Soundproof Sound Insulation Absorbing" The first is from "Urban Mall", and the other two are from "F.Stop Labs". This review is comparing item #2 with item #1. First, both #2 and #3 arrived together, in a single box, compressed into individual 12-pack bags as can be seen in the first picture that compares the foam panel with a bag next to it. That panel in the first picture is a panel that was taken out of the bag, aired for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (72 hours). After 3 days the foam was all compressed, and looked really bad. It did not uncompress at all. That was the first method the seller recommended to use. Then I soaked the panel in water, squeezed the water out, and let it air dry over night. The next morning it was still damp, but the overall shape was better. The second picture compares a panel that was uncompressed for 3 days (on the right) with a panel that was left wet and then air dried (on the right). I would not recommend you to get #2 or #3 because you will have to wet each panel, squeeze it, and then find space to let it dry - that will take quite a large space. So that is one reason why not to get it. Second reason why not to get these panels is because of the quality. As you can see in the last picture, the panels arrive wrinkled, and have additional damage cuts on the back side. Third reason why not to get these is because of the product specification is not matching what you will get. I ordered the 2 inch thickness foam panels. Letting the panel air decompress will bring it to about 1.5" at best. Wetting the panels and then drying them will generate a better shape, but will still give you panels with thickness of 0.75" at the lower end, and 1.75" at the higher side. Not even close to the 2.0" that was ordered.

Very deceiving until you revive them!
We are creating a podcast studio in a bedroom and needed something to dampen the walls. We bought two packs of 12 to start to see if they would work. When they arrived, they are vacuum packed and it says if you leave them out for 48 hours, they will 'puff out'. No, they did not. Here's the thing, forget about leaving them out and use the other direction to wet them and put them in the dryer for 20 minutes. When they come out, they are fully expanded! They worked so well, we bought an additional 4 packages to do the entire top half of the room. We bought the adhesive spray to put them on and m very happy with the result.
