In Nine Horses, Billy Collins, America’s Poet Laureate for 2001–2003, continues his delicate negotiation between the clear and the mysterious, the comic and the elegiac. The poems in this collection reach dazzling heights while being firmly grounded in the everyday. Traveling by train, lying on a beach, and listening to jazz on the radio are the seemingly ordinary activities whose hidden textures are revealed by Collins’s poetic eye. With clarity, precision, and enviable wit, Collins transforms those moments we too often take for granted into brilliant feats of creative imagination. Nine Horses is a poetry collection to savor and to share. Review: Intelligent and Accessible Poetry - You no longer have to avoid poetry with Billy Collins as the poet. Billy Collins is so accessible
I have very much enjoyed reading Billy Collins is poetry ever since discovering his poem, “You, reader.“ This was the only book of his I could find in my local library at the time. I enjoyed it so much that I got tired of checking it out from the library and finally just purchased a copy. The pole my reference above actually appears in his collection “the trouble with poetry and other poems.”

Go hardbacks!
The book arrived pretty quickly in perfect condition. It gives me great pleasure to read it. It's a hardback and reminds me of the particular pleasures to be had from reading books that are beautifully bound and will be fun to hold and to keep for rereading many times.

it's the little things
Sometimes somber, sometimes comical, sometimes heart-tugging, this disparate and eclectic collection of poetry is meant for pure enjoyment. The poems are accessible and quick to read. Sometimes snarky, most times playful and self-conscious, these poems serve as reminders of the little things in life. Also, some poems, that I enjoy the most, are art commenting on all artistic forms and drawing out the pleasure of devoted appreciation.

Makes you think!
As usual Billy Collins writings are creative, clear and they often hook some memory or bring up a new idea I had never thought of. Kudos to Collins.
