Head Harness 6897, Designed Full Facepiece Respirator 6000 Series

The plastic harness broke on my expensive 3M respirator. I tried gluing it back together, and that worked for a little while, but kept breaking. I spent a lot of money on that respirator, and it was infuriating that this somewhat flimsy harness broke after about a year. Without this harness, it is impossible to use the respirator. Finding this replacement saved me from having to get another respirator. For me, klutz that I am, it was a little tricky to twist the connections into the back of the respirator to install it; but after finally getting them in their holes, it stayed put. I would suggest only removing two of the four connections, and then install two of the new harness connections before repeating the process for the remaining two connections as that enables you to see exactly how the connections twist in place while you are doing it. I had removed the entire, old broken harness, and then when I got ready to install the new once, it took a few minutes to figure out how the connections twisted in place since the connections are made with curves in the harness. Finally, it was shipped quickly to me. I hope this one lasts.

I’ve had my 3M 6700 fullface respirator mask for many years. As the mask is very durable, it’s true the head harness will deteriorate over time. I just needed to replace the strap and this one was just perfect! A little tricky to attach, but once I got it on, it’s like a brand new mask and it adjusts just fine and fits wonderfully.

These straps break about every 150 days of use. I have replaced mine twice now. If your head is more fleshey and round you may have less need to tighten the straps and they will probably last longer. I think these straps are over priced, but I guess they have to make their money somewhere 🤔 although I spend a lot of money on M100 filters, so they are probably doing ok.

I purchased this replacement head harness because my original one ripped apart. I did get a little rough with the harness to cause the rip, but I didn't expect it to be so "flimsy". The reason why I decided to replace the head harness instead of buying a different model mask altogether, is because this particular model is very comfortable to wear. This time I'll be a little gentler with it. I hope I can make this replacement last longer because the 3M 6000 series mask it fits is a very good one.

I bought my 3M 6900 (large) full face respirator in 2014. All the original parts still work perfectly. I simply bought this replacement harness because the COVID-19 panic has made finding PPE or anything related to it harder to find. So I thought I’d better grab a replacement before I need it while I could still find it. Haven’t needed it yet but it looks like the original so I expect 3M quality. The seller, mBerzon, likes to burn Naga Champa incense and the smell permeates everything. So the harness arrived smelling like Naga Champa and since I store all the filters and things related to the respirator together, now the whole set smells like Naga Champa. Although I like the smell—your gas mask is not supposed to smell like anything at all! How can you tell if you your seal is broken and you’re inhaling something bad if the smell is masked by Naga Champa?! If you happen to be sensitive to smells or you don’t like Naga Champa, you’ll want to avoid this seller. Otherwise, the product seems legit.
