MSR Alpine Spatula, Black

It seems very flimsy, but it works fantastic in an old style mess kit. In our Scout troop, the leaders cook food as a group, and the Scouts cook their food as a group. I like my mess kit vs Patrol cooking. I can usually cook, eat, and clean up well before either group finishes cooking. Realistically you could use a fork instead of this, but all the Scouts like looking and seeing new interesting gear. This is a little smaller than a normal spatula, and certainly less weight. I am sure the Scouts are now wanting to upgrade their Patrol Box spatulas to these.

Its very light, it folds, and its very simple. Was worried it wouldn't be strong enough to flip things, but I was wrong. It works great and seems to handle the heat just fine too.

I like that this spatula folds in half and it's lightweight...perfect for backpacking! but the design does lend itself to inadvertently folding in on itself when you're using it. It gets a bit frustrating to use. Other designs I've seen use a sliding feature where the two halves slide apart and lock in place. This seems like a better design choice, honestly.

I have a set of tools I use for beating eggs and wash frequently and didn't want to keep in the main utensil drainer, using all its space. So I found ones with short handles and kept them in a plastic glass with the small bowl on top, covering them. But only this spatula existed and met the size and requirement of not being metal, for the non-stick frying pan used in this whole scheme. It's foldable and works !

Works fine. Can't have to much weight on it, or it'll fold. Good for flipping eggs, or pancakes. Full meat paddy, its not so good. Wouldn't buy again

Made of plastic but not durable. If you make it for one person it might work well but using it for cooking in a 10 inch iron skillet worked poorly due to portion size. Folds up nice but questionable durability.

Ok, it's a little flimsy, but I'm not gonna be flipping steaks with this thing. Some reported issues of melting, but they clearly have no business handling cooking utensils. Don't leave it in the pan, and don't have your pan too hot, no problem. I made eggs to try it out, it did fine. I'd like if they made a metal version, but I can't find one, so this will have to do. The only other option seems to be the GSI, but the reviews scared me away from that one. It's light, it's small, it works. 4 stars seems fair. I will update if I have any problems, but I anticipate none. I am using this along with the alpine stainless fry pan, which it fits in the bottom of for storage.

Para mi, una de las mejores espáulas para cocina de acampada. Quizá un centímetro más pequeña y sería más facil encajarla.

I bring this along on all my trips as it weighs literally next to nothing. A nice utensil.

Kann klein zusammen gefaltet werden und nimmt somit wenig Platz weg. Auch das Gewicht ist sehr gering. Ideal auf Touren mit dem Rad oder beim wandern.

フッ素加工のフライパン用に購入。 最近のクッカーにはフッ素加工されたフライパンが多く扱いに注意がいる。 金属製のターナーなどは傷をつける可能性があるので使いたく無いし、プラ製のものは大きい物はコンパクトに収納出来なかったり小さい物は使いにくかったりとなかなか難しい。 一応候補は他にもあったが最終的に軽くて収納しやすいMSRに決定。 プラなのでフッ素加工フライパンに対してあまり気を使わないで使用できるのは有り難い。 ただし鉄やステンレスのフライパンの場合は温度が高すぎてプラが溶ける可能性があるし、あまりガリガリ擦ると削れる可能性もあるので少しばかり注意が必要。 フライパンサイズ16cm以上を使う人は持っていると幸せになれる・・・かもしれない。
