Terence Hill, Bud Spencer. These two classic spaghetti Westerns from the Trinity series match up two bumbling brothers on seemingly opposite sides of the law who slapstick their way through evil land barons and such in a double dose of western parody. First up is They Call Me Trinity (1970/106 min.) followed by the equally hilarious sequel Trinity Is Still My Name (1971/108 min.) mixing together Western-style slapstick for big laughs. Directed by Enzo Barboni. 2 DVDs. Color/NR. Review: TRINITY MOVEIES - THE TRINITY SERIES MOVIES ARE THE OLD SPAGHETTI WESTERNS. THEY ARE GOOD AND COMICAL WITH A GOOD TO HOLD YOUR INTEREST. THE 70'S WESTERNS. Review: Great BR transfer - Shipped fast, good customer service. I don't need to review the two films as fans will already have made up their minds. I will though review the BR quality which is excellent for two films from this era. If you like these two movies you'll be pleased with the presentation.

Trip down memory lane
My rating reflects the nostalgia factor for me. I first saw this movie in the old Plaza Theater, built in 1913, in Horton Plaza in San Diego around 1970. At the time it was hilariously funny to me, mainly because of the role of Terrance Hill's (Trinity's) brother Bambino played by Bud Spencer. I was so taken with the movie that years later I found it on VHS and played it to death. Then for decades, nothing. I rediscovered this on DVD in December 2019 and grabbed it. Playback quality is a bit rough and it is not nearly as funny to my 72 year old self as it was to my 22 year old self, but there were still laugh out loud moments, and Bambino's sardonic character makes him still my favorite. If you have never watched this movie or are in your 20s or 30s you may not find it funny or entertaining. On the other hand, if you saw and remember this movie and remember enjoying it way back when it's worth grabbing, Well, maybe so, Like I said, the production values were never great even when this movie was first released, and are crude by today's standards. Add in that this appears to be transferred from a tenth generation source, and it could be a painful watch unless you truly loved the movie the way I did and want to take a trip down memory lane because your memory totally goes.

Quality reproduction at last!!!!!!!
I shall begin by explaining to other reviewers, why there is a missing sequence in Trinity Is Still My Name. All the other poor quality versions are not official releases. The official Italian released version removed the scene where the mother was talking about having the boys out of wedlock. Italy being predominantly Church based and given the era, it was decided to be prudent. And given that the "spaghetti" western era was at an end at this time, it was decided to leave this scene on the cutting room floor. Hen's Tooth Video have done a magnificent job on these re-productions. The video is crisp and sharp (even being played here in Australia on a PAL/NTSC compatible system. I use a 42" Plasma and these "scale" up to their perfect anamorphic size while no quality losses are noted. I have seen MANY copies of these two movies from all over the world, both PAL and NTSC versions. This set is the best available in English. If you love these two actors as much as I do, then this set is for you. You will not be disappointed. Maybe one day, full on re-mastered versions will be authorized, with all missing scenes and DTS 5.1.

Great films, good quality DVDs. I've heard these are slightly cut from the full but I can't speak for the validity of this claim.
